Ahoj, volám sa Sabina and I am a twenty-something year-old Romanian currently living in Bratislava, Slovakia. I have lived in Girona, Catalonia (Spain) and Leeds (which I fell hopelessly in love with), England before.

In 2012 I left behind the charming West Yorkshire to move to our lovely capital Bratislava with absolutely no money in my pocket. I’ve been having a love-hate relationship with Slovakia for almost four years. But everytime I was convinced I would put an end to it, sweet Slovakia hit back with more temptations, not wanting me to leave. Here I am now, working as a developer for IBM.

Expat in Slovakia is meant to help other EU expatriate fellows in Slovakia guide their way through the local culture and, of course, system. Honest feedback of any kind and contributions (comments, guest posts, corrections, etc.) will be highly appreciated. Best of luck to all of us, we surely need it!

I couldn’t have managed to get here without the help of the lovely GetOn/Placement Slovakia team – Karol, Monika and Simona!
